LET'S MAKE IT

Lemon, Caper & Dill Tuna Bagel with Cucumber Salad

Makes 1 serving. One serving: 1 whole bagel, tuna topping and salad. Nutrition includes every stated ingredient, cooking fat, topping, dip and side.

Nutrition & tips

Method

1

Toast the bagel

Toast both bagel halves lightly for about 60–90 seconds until the cut faces are golden. Let them cool for a minute so the topping stays thick.

2

Mix the lemon dressing

Stir the yoghurt, capers, dill, pepper and 1 tsp of the lemon juice together. Fold in the drained tuna, keeping a few larger flakes for texture.

3

Toss the salad

Mix the cucumber, tomatoes and red onion with the remaining 1 tsp lemon juice. No extra oil or dressing is needed for the stated serving.

4

Pile it high

Divide all the tuna mixture between the two bagel halves and serve open-faced with the complete salad. For a packed lunch, carry the tuna separately and assemble just before eating.

Nutrition & tips

Estimated per complete stated serving: 291 kcal; protein 47.1g; net carbs 9.9g; sugars 6.2g; fibre 5.3g; fat 6.2g; saturates 1g; salt 1.7g.

One serving is 1 whole bagel, tuna topping and salad. All stated cooking fat, coatings, toppings, sauces, dips and sides are included. Total elapsed time: approximately 12 minutes.

Weigh tuna after draining. Tin sizes and drained weights vary; refrigerate any unused tuna in a covered non-metal container and follow the tin instructions.

Use thick strained yoghurt rather than a runny yoghurt so the topping stays on the bagel.

A lightly toasted bagel gives contrast without adding butter; any extra spread changes the nutrition.

UK carbohydrate: approximately 9.9g per serving. UK carbohydrate already excludes fibre: do not subtract fibre again. Net carbs use the featured SRSLY product’s stated values, allowing for its listed polyols.
