WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

Cinnamon-roll comfort, breakfast speed

Warm cinnamon, a lightly caramelised sugar topping and a creamy vanilla swirl turn two slices of SRSLY bread into a sweet weekend-style breakfast. The protein comes from the bread, egg and strained yoghurt, with no protein powder needed. These are French toast slices with cinnamon-roll flavours, rather than rolled pastries.

LET'S MAKE IT

Make your cinnamon-roll French toast

Serves one: both slices, all the egg mixture, cinnamon sugar and the full yoghurt swirl. A measured teaspoon of sugar is included in the nutrition; extra syrup, fruit or toppings are not.

Nutrition & tips

Method

1

Mix the cinnamon sugar

Combine the measured sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Keep half for the custard and half for finishing.

2

Make the vanilla swirl

Mix the yoghurt with half the vanilla until smooth. Spoon into a small piping bag, or a food bag with a tiny corner snipped off.

3

Dip the bread

Whisk the egg, milk, remaining vanilla and half the cinnamon sugar in a shallow dish. Dip each slice briefly on both sides; avoid soaking until fragile.

4

Cook gently

Melt 1 tsp unsalted butter (5g) in a non-stick frying pan large enough for both slices over a medium-low heat. Swirl to coat the base; when the butter is foaming gently, add the bread. Spoon any remaining egg mixture onto the slices, then cook for about 3–4 minutes each side until golden and the egg is fully set. Keep the heat gentle so the butter and cinnamon do not burn.

5

Add the cinnamon finish

Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar evenly over the hot toast. Turn the sugary side down into the pan for 15–20 seconds to melt it lightly, watching closely so it does not burn.

6

Swirl and serve

Transfer both slices to a plate, let them stand for a minute, then pipe all the vanilla yoghurt in a loose spiral over the toast. Eat warm.

Nutrition & tips

Estimated nutrition per complete serving: 290 kcal; protein 27g; net carbohydrate 14g; sugars 11g; fibre 7g; fat 13g; saturates 5g; salt 0.8g.

Net carbs use UK carbohydrate values with fibre already excluded; do not subtract fibre again. The loaf's small polyol contribution is rounded within these estimates. Calculations use 43 kcal and 4.4g protein per 20g bread slice, FAGE Total 0% unsalted butter and representative ingredient labels. Brands and portion sizes change the result.

The full egg mixture and all measured butter are counted. Cooking any remaining custard onto the bread keeps the protein estimate representative. The yoghurt swirl is tangy rather than a sugary icing; the measured cinnamon sugar provides the sweetness. Use thick strained yoghurt for the stated protein.
